The new big question out there......do I really need a professional photographer ??

A wedding is the biggest event in any bride and groom's life, yet not everyone sees clearly the value of investing in a top-notch photographer to document the day.
The most common question couples ask themselves, for better or worse, seems to be: What’s it going to cost us to hire a photographer?
That question does not align itself with expectations of finding an out-of-this-universe, sensational photographer. A better question – or series of questions – would be:
How important is it to have the Big Day preserved for the rest of our lives?
How much can we invest in the one thing that will never let us forget the biggest kiss of our lives?
How good a photographer can we hire?

After all, what happens to the rest of the day? Flowers wilt. Cake and champagne disappears.  But photographs...
So if having photos of that day are important, then avoid future heartache by treating the decision of who to hire as if it’s one of the most important investments of your lives.
                            Because it is.

" Putting it simply - DON'T. If you mess it up you will never hear the end of it and could quite likely loose a friend. Wedding photography is NOT EASY and should not be undertaken by a raw amateur.  Otherwise, this adage will do little to sooth the frustration of making a hasty decision : You get what you pay for !"

" are your friends crazy? are you crazy
your in deep, if the photography is important to them study photography until the wedding dont stop for sleep

suggest they hire a Pro if its important to them, you can be an extra camera maybe

i work in this field but dont do to many weddings they are hard work!!"

" If you are a skilled and experienced photographer, you stand a better chance of coming out with at least some decent images. If you use your camera on auto or program and have no basic understanding of exposure, composition and lighting, then you and your friend are in for a rude awakening and possibly hard feelings. Why is your dad insisting on this? If dad wants an extra garage does he hire a professional builder or someone with a hammer. "

"It's a horrible idea!
Here's why.........you only get one chance to take the most important pictures of your life! If your friend doesn't give you exactly what you want, you will be horribly disappointed and it can ruin your friendship. Being a bride myself, I can empathize with budget restraints. But you CANNOT cheap out on your photos. You can find a reasonable, professional photographer. "

" I have a friend who got her friend to take her photos for her, and she ended up with 750 blurry, out-of-focus pictures, and she was very disappointed. Also a professional photographer will know how to have the couple pose so the photos are not just boring standing-there shots.

If you check with pros, ask them what they will give you. Ours gave us the cd of all 350 shots, and we have complete rights to them and can do what we want with them, including photoshop, if we wanted.

You're going to look at these pictures for the rest...of...your...life.... You want them to be GOOD. This is one place I would not scrimp to save money on a wedding. "

"Well I know my uncle has a new expensive camera and he offered to take pictures".......maybe we will just do that......"
